EK Cycling
EK Cycling is dedicated to strengthening and transforming East Knoxville, particularly along Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. With a focus on diversity, equity in cycling, and transportation equity, EK Cycling provides bike safety education and basic maintenance support for riders of all ages and experience levels, helping residents feel confident cycling within their own communities.

In collaboration with the University of Tennessee’s CURCI grant program and the UT–Oak Ridge Innovation Institute’s Center for Transportation Research, EK Cycling is working towards the implementation of projects such as bike lanes, improved lighting, and traffic-calming measures fostering healthier, safer, and more connected communities, especially in areas with limited access to cycling infrastructure.

A "half century cycling ride" is a bicycle ride of 50 miles, a common distance for organized cycling events and a achievable goal for many recreational cyclists with consistent training. This ride is great for cyclists of moderate ability. The origins of the century ride are obscure, but Dora Rinehart did century rides in Denver, Colorado in the 1890s.
EK Cycling offer several options for cyclists of varying abilities, such as…

Quarter century, 25 km (mi)
-
Half century, 50 km (mi) August 2021 route extended from Chilhowee Park to Carson-Newman University, returning along the same path.
